Where to Celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Philly

Break out the sombrero and raise your margarita glass in honor of Cinco de Mayo. We rounded up some popular Mexican spots near Royal Athena, whether you’re hitting the town or hosting a more intimate get-together.

Sona Pub & Kitchen — Why limit yourself to one bar when you can enjoy more than six? Sona Pub & Kitchen may not be a Mexican restaurant but it’s the place to be if you want to kick off Cinco De Mayo Bar Crawl Manayunk.  The second annual event will include free cover to area bars for all ticket holders along with free swag, food specials, entertainment and more. Break out your sombreros for this event at noon on May 4. For more information, click here.

La Roca — Located across the Schuylkill River, La Roca offers the best in Mexican street food. Their menu includes a fine selection of tacos, burritos and bowls, all of which pair perfectly with their margaritas, cervezas, tequila and Mexican sodas. To make a reservation, click here. Their staff also delivers if you would rather have a more intimate Cinco de Mayo gathering.

Cactus Cantina — Whether you’re indulging in drink specials until 2 a.m. on Saturday or enjoying a delicious brunch menu on Sunday, Cactus Cantina is the place to be for Cinco de Mayo weekend. The Mexican restaurant, located less than three miles from Royal Athena, also offers a fine selection of tapas, enchiladas, quesadillas, burritos, tacos and more.
